James Donald Kennedy, 91, of Minnetonka, Minnesota, formerly a long time resident of Dunbar, passed away on July 11, 2015 after a long illness.
He was born October 8, 1923 in Fairmont, West Virginia.
While Don lived in Minnesota for the past eight years, he always considered himself a West Virginian. He was a diehard Mountaineer fan and passed that on to his family. He was known for his quick wit and was always ready with an appropriate pun or joke for most any occasion. He loved to read and sing but above all he loved his family, unconditionally, especially his wife Bettie who he has now joined.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Bettie Lou Martin Kennedy; Brother Philip Edward Kennedy and Sisters Helen Kennedy Corre and Hesther Kennedy.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Becky Kennedy and Robert MacDonald Lovejoy of Shorewood, Minn. and James Philip and Kimberly Tschantre Kennedy of Severna Park, Md. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Cary Lovejoy Lawler, Robert MacDonald Lovejoy, Erin Kennedy Taddeo and Maire Shannon Kennedy and one great granddaughter Savannah Kennedy Lawler.
A brief graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 18 at Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
