Obituary

James Clive Mangus, of Dunbar, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the age of 82 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

He was born and raised in Jackson County and attended Ripley High School before serving his country in the Navy during World War II. Upon his return from service, he graduated from Walton High School in 1947.

James worked for Union Carbide in the South Charleston Plant for 17 years, before beginning a career as a State Farm Insurance Agent in Dunbar. He retired from the Agency after 32 years of service.

Mr. Mangus is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Schoolcraft Mangus; one daughter, Sarah Dupont along with her husband, Steve, and their children, Grant and Ellen all of Columbus, OH; and one son, William "Bill" Mangus, his wife, Kathi, and their children, Abigail and Lila all of Hurricane; two sisters, Erma Wolfe of Kenna and Willadean Barnes of Fredricksburg, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Luster Mangus and Luverna Ellen Summers Mangus; five sisters, Hattie Hay, Hallie Taylor, Goldie Lowe, Iva Roberts, Edna Faye Vandale; three brothers, Dare, Lowell, and Lovell.

The family wishes to thank the many relatives, church friends, neighbors, and Right-at-Home Agency, for their love and concern in helping Mr. Mangus.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 29, at Dunbar United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Okey Harless and Pastor John A. Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 28, at Dunbar United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Dunbar United Methodist Church, 1400 Myers Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064, or to a charity of your choice.
