James R. Marshall, 81, of Dunbar, went home to be with the Lord and reunite with loved ones on Saturday, November 17, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on May 8, 1931 in Glassport, PA. He was the son of the late William Marshall and Dortha and Hugh Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 40 years, Frances "Franny" Lucas Marshall.
He leaves to cherish his memory daughters, Brenda Marshall of Poca, Tammy Marshall Anderson and her husband, Danny of Clendenin and Barby Marshall of Johnson City, TN; granddaughter, Allison Anderson Singleton and her husband, Sean of Huntington; grandson, Erik Anderson and his wife, Ashley of Charleston; great grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua and Caleb Singleton of Huntington. Jim is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
Jim attended Stonewall Jackson High School and was a graduate of Dunbar High School, where he played football. After graduation he joined the US Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Union Carbide where he worked as a pipefitter for many years. Jim was an avid Mountaineer fan and loved spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Joel Harpold officiating. Entombment with military rites will be in Grandview Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, November 19, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
