James Michael McCallister, 69, of Dunbar, sadly left us on November 25, 2023 after fighting a courageous  five year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born on October 25, 1954 to the late James and Peggy McCallister.

Mike grew up in the Tornado/St. Albans area graduating  from St. Albans High School in 1972.  He retired from Dow, formerly Union Carbide, in 2022 after a 41 year career as an instrument mechanic.

Mike developed a love for the outdoors as a child, a passion inherited from his parents and grandparents.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, hiking, and simply being in nature with his family and friends.  Mike has passed on the same outdoor enthusiasm to his children and grandchildren.  He was also a skilled woodworker, and he truly enjoyed making one of a kind pieces for his loved ones.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and Jerry McCallister; and his nephew, Jerry Lee McCallister.

Mike is survived by his wife of 20 years, Vickie; children, JB McCallister, Bobbi Jo Williams (Jerrod), and Rachel Williams; grandchildren, JD McCallister, William, and Angelia McCallister, Jaycee, Jax, and Kaylee Williams; siblings, Brenda Vannatter (Michael), and John McCallister; along with many other family members.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor David Keeney officiating.  Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
