James A. "Jimmy" Meeks, 38, of Lexington, KY and formerly of Dunbar, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016.

Jimmy was a beloved father, son, brother, and friend. He was a 1996 graduate of South Charleston High School. He attended Hargrave Military Academy, where he earned a full football scholarship to Marshall University. At Marshall Jimmy was an offensive lineman from 1997-2001. Jimmy earned a BA in business from Marshall in 2001 and a Master's Degree in Safety in 2003. After school Jimmy was Vice President and Safety Director at Meeks Wireline Services and later Safety Director of J.W. Operating Company. He recently lived in Lexington, KY to be with his children.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandparents, C.R. and Maxine Meeks; grandmother, Frances B. Boggess; and uncle, John H. Meeks.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Lillian Dana Meeks and Luke James Meeks; parents, James C. Meeks and Jean Ann Meeks; brother, Justin P. Meeks; grandparents, Bill and Mary McLaughlin; and uncles and aunts, Steven R. and Becky McLaughlin, and Michael L. and Sandra McLaughlin.

A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 13 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jimmy's name to a charity of your choice.
