James William Morrison, 79, of Nitro, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 9, 2018.

He was born on July 31, 1938, in Mount Gay, Logan County, to the late James and Kathryn Morrison.

James was a 1957 graduate of South Charleston High School. He served proudly in the U.S. Army. He was also member of the Charleston Northside Church of the Nazarene. He was greatly loved and will be missed terribly by his family including all of his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Morrison; and his nephew, Steven Morrison.

He is survived by his sister, Barbara Hayes (Tom) of Winfield; brothers, Donald R. Morrison (Elva) of Sevierville, TN, Kenneth R. Morrison (Diane) of Spotsylvania, VA; step-son, John Howe (Amy) of Norfolk, VA; step-daughter, Cyndi Patterson of Hilton Head, SC; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; nieces, Teresa Sykes of Austin, TX, Sally Morrison of Knoxville, TN; nephews, John Hayes Jr. of Franklin Furnace, OH, Scott Morrison of Maui, HI, and Michael Morrison of Fredericksburg, VA.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor John Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
