James Arnold Richmond, 78, of Rand, departed his life on September 1, 2020 after a long illness at CAMC Memorial.

He was born on May 7, 1942 to the late, Chilion and Ella Proffit.

James graduated from Cedar Grove High School and later attended WV Tech and University of Hawaii on a football scholarship. He retired from John Amos Power Plant. James was a devoted husband, father, and brother who was a "gentle giant."

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his brother, Chilion Jr.; and son, James Michael Richmond.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 52 years, Carolyn Ann Richmond; son, Lawrence Richmond; brother, Grayson Profit (Brenda); sister, Gale Chappelle (Thomas) of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Brandon, Lexus, Jaden, Jasmine and James; great-grandchildren, Julian and Mason; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close family and friends.

The Richmond family wishes to express their appreciation and sincere thanks for all the acts of kindness shown to them in their time of sorrow.

A private family service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

A public visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
