James H. Saunders' Obituary
James H. Saunders, 81, of South Charleston, died on Friday, March 10, 2006 in Thomas Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.
Mr. Saunders, a Purple Heart recipient, served his country in the US Army during World War II. James retired from Kanawha County Schools, and was a self-employed contractor.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Mara M. Saunders; sons, Michael James Saunders, and wife Kim of Grayson, GA, William Grant Saunders of Laurel, MD; daughters, Sondra Saunders Medley of Monroe, GA, Sharon Gottwald of Scarsdale, NY; stepsons, Gary L. Kessell, and wife Sally of St. Albans, Michael R. Kessell, and wife Beverly of Cross Lanes, Jeffrey S. Kessell, and wife Sandy of Dunbar; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchilderen.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
In accordance with Mr. Saunders' wishes, his body will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
