James David Sharp, Sr. went home to heaven on Saturday May 8, 2010 after a short illness at the Hubbard Hospice House.
He was born May 1, 1925.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Mamie (Ryan) Sharp; former wife, Betty Lou (Tow) Sharp; brothers, Paul, John, Samuel and Coleman Grant; 2 sisters, Ruth and Libby; 2 Sons, James David Sharp Jr., and Richard Lee Sharp.
Survived by his loving wife, Maida (Mooney) Sharp of South Charleston , children, Carol (Joe) Merolillo of Fox Lake, Illinois, Gregory (Peggy) Sharp of Glen Ellyn Illinois, Kevin (Sandy) Sharp of Plainfield Illinois, Kathie (Tony) Augelli of Blue River, Wisconsin; stepsons, Michael (Nancy) Mooney of Tamarack, Florida, and Douglas (Suzi) Mooney of Pickerington, Ohio; 20 Grandchildren, 22 Great-Grandchildren, 3 sisters Mary Parsons, Zora Brown and Yvonne Harrison.
He gave his heart to God in 1999. He enjoyed gardening and cars for a hobby. He was a proud WWII Navy Veteran. He was a former employee of Owens Illinois Bottle Plant and a former business owner and operator of many service stations in the local area. He was employed by Trivillians Pharmacy in Charleston as a prescription delivery driver.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, May 10, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
Service will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Doyle D. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Memorial Park.
