Obituary

James Patrick "Jim" Wesolowski, age 73, of Dunbar, left his friends and family on June 10, 2017 at the Hubbard Hospice House West.

Jim was born on September 4, 1943 in Portland, Oregon. He was the son of the late John Paul Wesolowski Sr. of Spokane, Washington and the late Dorothy Mae (Kelly) Christianson of Kona, Hawaii.

He was also preceded by his wife of 33 years, Margaret McGee Wesolowski, of St. Albans.

Jim attended Barberton Grade School, Battleground Junior High, and Fort Vancouver High School in Clark County, Washington. Jim enjoyed being a member of the junior high varsity basketball team, and was a member of student council. Jim was very active in high school and served as editor of the school newspaper. In 1960, he was awarded a congressional nomination to the U.S. Air Force Academy by Rep. Julia Butler Hansen, which he also appreciated. He attended Clark County College and ECSU. He was a member of the varsity track team, editor of the school paper, president of the ski club, president of the chess club, and many other activities.

Jim served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict at Chu Lai, as well as Da Nang. Jim was superintendent and general manager of several public utilities in West Virginia, retiring from the City of St. Albans Municipal Utilities Commission as general manager. He was a member of the American Water Works Association, serving as trustee, vice chairman and chairman of the West Virginia chapter. He also served as secretary-treasurer of the WV Rural Water Association for many years. He was a member of the WVWEA select society of sludge shovelers. Jim was also founding member of the WV Municipal Water Quality Association.

Jim is survived by his wife, Patty Sayre Wesolowski. She was the love of his life and was his best friend, companion, and confidant. He is also survived by his brother, John P. "Jack" Wesolowski and wife, Karon, of Sarasota, Florida. Also surviving is step-son James A. Sayre, wife, Katherine, and daughter, Kristen.

Jim requested that his remains be cremated and to have no service. Jim requests that donations in his remembrance be given to your favorite homeless shelter.
