Janet Lou Fulknier, 78, of Dunbar, went to be with the Lord and her family on Friday, July 13, 2012, surrounded by her son and daughter, following a long illness.

She was a cherished mother and grandmother. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, gardening and her antiquing. Janet was a lifelong member of the Dunbar Mountain Mission and formerly served as the Great Pocahontas of the WV Pocahontas Lodge.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Janet was the daughter of the late Jack and Phyllis Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, sons, Jennings (Rickie) and Charles (Dickie), niece, Gloria Covert, whom she raised like her daughter and brother, Howard Michael Lee.

She is survived by her son, Ronald and his wife, Dawn; daughter, Connie; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Jonathan and William; and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her lifelong sister and friend, Jean Boggess.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Billy Lucas and the Rev. Ronald Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Janet's family would like to extend special thanks to her caregiver/daughter Ann Wright and caregiver/son, Jonathan. Also special thanks to her doctors, Dr. Basu, Dr. Haddy and her family physician, Dr. Partovi and special nurse, Sherry, and to several others who were instrumental in her care.
