Janet Deloris Slawter, 91, of Hurricane, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

She was born on February 24, 1934 in Boone County, to the late Norvel and Betsey Snead.

Janet enjoyed playing the piano and working outside in her flowers. She was a member of the St. Albans United Pentecostal Church for over 50 years. In addition to helping with many events with the ladies auxiliary she taught Sunday School, played piano and the organ for the church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Earl Slawter; and daughter-in-law, Betty Slawter.

Janet is survived by her three sons, Robert of Hurricane, Douglas of Calhoun GA, and Walter (Bethany) of Hurricane; four granddaughters, Macee, Bralee, Camree, Carlee, one great grandson, Kasai; and a great granddaughter due in March.

A graveside service will held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, at Teays Hills Cemetery, St. Albans.

Friends may visit from 1 to 2 p.m. at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
