Obituary

Jason Daniel Finney, 42, of Dunbar, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, after 5 ½ years of battling Melanoma. Jason passed away at Hubbard Hospice House surrounded by his family and girlfriend.

He graduated from South Charleston High School class of 1993, where he was an All-State Pitcher. Jason was a member of Rebecca Chapel, Dunbar and was employed as a driver for UPS.

Jason loved the outdoors and playing golf; but most of all he adored his time with his daughter, Madison, who always called him "Poppy." Jason was a very caring, loving father, but his life impacted so many people. He always had a way to make people laugh and feel loved. His memory will be cherished by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by three grandparents.

Jason is survived by his daughter, Madison Brooke Finney; parents, Danny and Robin Finney; sister, Jamie Finney; girlfriend, who has stood by his side through his illness, Elizabeth Baker; step-daughter, Savannah Griffith; grandfather, George Finney; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone who helped with Jason's treatment.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 15, at Rebecca Chapel, 147 Moran Avenue, Dunbar with Rev. Ron Nida and Pastor Aaron Finney officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. prior to service at Rebecca Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jason's name to Melanoma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 759329, Baltimore, MD 21275-9329.
