Jerald "Jerry" Burnell Burns, 75, of Charleston, passed away on January 18, 2023 of a long illness.

He was born on July 13, 1947 to the late Andrew and Cereda Allen Burns.

Jerald graduated from Charleston High School in 1966, and he served in the United Sates Army. He is an Alumni of West Virginia Sate College (University) and he retired from AT&T.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Mathews Burns; his granddaughter, Rahkel Lundy; his sisters, Ruth Wade, Cereda Triggs, Sandra Burns, Helen Bland, Alda Burns and Murriell Burns; and his brothers, Andrew "Butch" Burns Jr., Robert "Bobby" Burns and Randy Pratt.

Jerald leaves behind to mourn his memories, his daughter, Lorilea Burns-Lundy; his grandchildren, Aaron Burns, Rahmel Lundy, Joseph Burns, Joshua Burns and Lasha Burns; nine great-grandchildren all from Charlotte, NC; sister, Mary Sims of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Ricky Pratt of Charleston; and a host of family, nieces, nephews , cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 17, in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, with Apostle Tina M. Beatty officiating. The procession will leave Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, at 1:30 pm.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
