Jerry Victor
Lee
December 11, 1939 – August 20, 2018
Jerry Victor Lee, 78, of Nitro, formerly of Dunbar, passed away peacefully Monday, August 20, 2018, after a long, well-fought battle with heart disease.
He was born December 11, 1939, in Tyler Mountain to the late Orville 'Preach' and Katie Lee and also preceded in death by his brothers Bob and Joe.
Jerry graduated from Nitro High and School and attended West Virginia State College. He served on the Dunbar City Council during some of the city's most prosperous years. He worked for many years as the office manager at Vimasco Corp. in Nitro before making a midlife career change to join Carpenters 1207 from which he retired. Never one to be idle for long, "The Game Man," as he came to be known, put his brilliant mind and nimble fingers to work creating wooden games and puzzles that he sold at craft shows around the Kanawha Valley and in gift shops across the state.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Anne Nelson Lee, their daughters Cathy Lewis (Mike) of Plano, TX; Virginia Lewis (H.E.) of Eleanor; and Lisa Lee-Ranson (Ted) of Dunbar; grandchildren Emily Lewis of Scott Depot; Austin Lewis of Eleanor; Holly Lewis of Cary, NC; and Tanner and Landry Lewis of Plano; his aunt Martha Adair (Bill) of Clemmons, NC; along with many loved nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, cousins and friends who were like family.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 2 p.m. at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at noon to visit as we fondly reminisce a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association, 162 Court St, Charleston, WV, 25301.
