Jerry Lee Mallett's Obituary
Jerry Lee Mallett, Sr., 81, born November 5, 1933 in Dunbar, passed away June 1, 2015.
He was the son of the late Albro and Lucy Smith Mallett of Dunbar.
Jerry was a U. S. Army veteran; he served for four years and spent some time in Germany. He worked for C & P Telephone Company in Charleston and retired after 40 years of service, climbing poles to keep your phones working. After retiring he located underground utilities for another 14 years.
He married Laura Nelle Poland Jarrett Mallett in 1978 and they raised her three children, Brian Keith, David Neal and Anita Diane.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Kim Allen Mallett.
He is survived by his wife, Laura; son, Jerry Lee Mallett, Jr. of Fla.; stepchildren, Brian Keith Jarrett, David Neal Jarrett, and Anita Diane Owen; grandchildren, Kyle, Shane and Christopher Mallett; great granddaughter, Savannah Mallett; brother, Guy Mallett of Cross Lanes; sister, Lois Jane Mallett of Ohio; and his precious dog, Wallace.
The family would like to extend special thanks to HospiceCare.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 5, at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar with Reverend Dr. Okey Harless officiating. Procession to cemetery will leave Keller Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
