Jess L Hintz, 85, of Dunbar, returned to his heavenly home and his beloved wife, Willie, on September 8th, at his home, following an ongoing health decline.
"PawPaw Jess" as those close to him called him, was born on May , 6, 1933 to the late Walter and Lillian Hintz and was a lifetime resident of Dunbar and loyal supporter of his West Virginia Mountaineers. Jess was a founding member of the Dunbar Athletic Boosters and retired from Western Electric.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Willie Hintz ; brothers, Walt, Henry, Robert and Danny; sisters, Betty Perkins and Bess Herndon, and his beloved grandson Shaun Mallett.
Jess is survived by his daughters, Diane Samples, Lori Mallett and husband Mike, Toni Smith and husband Bill; son, Jay and wife Donna, Doug Spry; special friend and caregiver Amber Asbury; sister, Delores Brown and husband Gale; sister-in-law, Eveline Hintz; grandchildren, Rene Stilwell and husband Scott, Matt Spry, Jason Spry, Crissy Brothers, Sarah Chapman, Stacie Spurlock and husband Gary, Trey Hintz, Stephen and Christopher Smith; 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be greatly missed by this large family and all who called him friend.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of this great man will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Reverend Mark Jarrell and Reverend Billy Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 on Wednesday, September 12, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, National Headquarters, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL. 17, Chicago IL 60601, in memory of Willie Hintz.
