Jesse L. "Bud" Reed, 86, of Dunbar, went home to be with the Lord and his dear wife, Norma, on Friday, March 20, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Bud was retired from Union Carbide with 35 years of faithful service. He attended Bethany Baptist Church of St. Albans. Since his salvation in 1950, he has faithfully and steadfastly served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Psalms 37:23 says, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delighteth in his ways." Bud's example and faithfulness will always be a testimony to all who knew him.
Bud was married for 63 years to his sweetheart, Norma Jean Reed. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Reed, and grandson, Jimmy Pennington.
Mr. Reed is survived by sons, Jerry Reed, and his wife Becky of Dunbar, Steve Reed, and special friend Billie Painter of Alum Creek; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Paul Pennington of Cross Lanes, Linda and J.R. Combs of Charleston, Pam and Bobby Samms of Dunbar, Jan and Doug McComas of Red House; brother, Bob Reed of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Tim Campbell, Pastor Butch Leadman, and grandson Evangelist Bryan Samms officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
