Jimmy B. Plear, 61, of Dunbar, passed away Friday, June 13, 2008 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Jimmy was born on June 18, 1946 in Cora, West Virginia to the late Dennis and Geraldine Plear. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized, at St. Phillips Baptist Church. Jimmy was educated in the Logan County School System graduating from Logan High School in 1964. A graduate of West Virginia State College in 1972, Jimmy was drafted, while in college, serving time in the United States Army for two years.
Jimmy was a quiet spirit and was loved by many. He spent most of his working life as an employee of the State of West Virginia—working in various agencies. He retired in February 2007 after serving as Deputy Director at the Regional Jail Authority.
He was united in matrimony to Cheryl Anderson in 1973.
Mr. Plear is survived by his wife Cheryl Anderson Plear and their three children Tonya of Brooklyn, NY; Jeffrey of Charleston; and Eric of Dunbar. He was the proud grandfather of one granddaughter, Alexandria. Additional survivors are his siblings Imogene Campbell of Albany, NY; Charles Proffit (Rosetta) of Savannah, GA; Lewis Proffit (Marian) of Delaware; Dennis Marshall Plear (Gloria) of Colorado Springs, CO; Linda Plear of Atlanta, GA; and Jennifer Hooper (Robert) of Atlanta, GA and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; soon to be daughter-in-law, Tiffany Wesley; mother-in-law, Mrs. Louise Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar, with the Rev. Michael Smith, the Rev. Garland Johnson, and Bishop Robert Haley officiating. Entombment will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
Friends may call beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday, until service time at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
