Joetta Louise
Crowder High
August 31, 1953 – June 25, 2025
Joetta Louise Crowder High, 71, of Dunbar, WV, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025.
She was born on August 31, 1953 in South Charleston, WV, daughter of the late Archie and Wanda Crowder.
Joetta graduated from Charleston Catholic High School. She attended Marshall University where she obtained her associate's degree. Joetta worked various jobs including at a law office, managing the city pool during the summer, in sales, and most importantly being a homemaker. She enjoyed giving the little ones their "first" everything and letting them play and be kids.
She was a gifted seamstress whose sewing machine was rarely quiet, and an avid quilter who found joy in stitching together not just fabric but memories. Joetta's handmade quilts, crafted with patience and care, were treasured gifts that marked birthdays, weddings, and milestones throughout the years.
A true animal lover, Joetta, opened her heart and home to countless pets over the years, each one considered part of the family. Whether it was a loyal dog by her side or a cat curled up on her lap, she found comfort and companionship in the animals she cherished.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Marsha and her husband, Lawrence "Junior" High.
Joetta is survived by her brother, Frank Crowder and BFF sister-in law, Jane Crowder of Dunbar; sister, Sarah Crowder of Ripley; daughter, Emily High of South Charleston; daughter, Cara High (Derek) of Dunbar; her only grandchild, Cody Crowder (her beloved "Codypie"); nephew, Chris Crowder (Electa); niece, Jennifer Arnold (Larry); great-nieces, Chesla (Zack), Hannah, and Sarah. As well as numerous extended family members.
