John Edward Hess, 59, of Tornado, went to be in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
He was a Christian and had been employed as a meat cutter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Lewis and Oma May McVey and by his brother, Gene Hess.
Surviving are his loving wife, Rebecca Susan Hess; son, Johnny Hess of North Carolina; step-sons, Allen Walker of Sissonville and Tony Walker of Washington, DC; brother, George Hess of Tennessee; sisters, Oma Gibson of Charleston, Irene Pittman of Pinch and Blanche Elswick of Cinco. Mr. Hess is also survived by his grandchildren, Shane Walker, Dustin Carnefix, Savannah Sampson and Josie Walker.
A celebration of John Edward Hess' life will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, January 15, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dan McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
