John Lewis "Jack" Jackson, of Hurricane, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital following a long illness.
John was born in Roane County, West Virginia on November 21, 1932.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Collet and Mary Jackson and wives, Ida Elizabeth Farris Jackson and Carol Jean Jackson.
Survivors include sons, Johnny Lee Jackson of Winfield and D. Scot Jackson of Charleston; grandchildren, Jack Jackson, Farris Jackson and Jonathan Jackson and his beloved dog, Trixie Jackson.
John was a decorated Korean War veteran, decorated corporal with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department, a manager in the U. S. General Services Administration, a correctional officer with the State of West Virginia, gunsmith, hunter and fisherman. He was also a skilled carpenter, fabricator and mechanic. John especially enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson.
The family would like to personally thank Donna Priddy and all of John's friends and neighbors for their concern, love and help throughout his illness.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family requests that friends of John and the family take a minute to remember John and how truly unique and special he was.
There will be a private family memorial service held in Bladensburg, Maryland at a later date.
