John "Shorty" "Johnny" Underwood, 75, of Tyler Mountain went to Heaven on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

He loved hunting and fishing.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Mural Lynn and Arbutas Underwood; his son, John Underwood, Jr.; and his daughters, Michelle and Aleana Kay Underwood.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Underwood of Tyler Mountain; his children, Delilah Jean Underwood, Sara May, Walter Aiden Dills, Tiffany Sue, Bobby Haynes, and Crystal Lynn all of Tyler Mountain; his grandkids, Daniel William Skidmore, Jasmine and Skylar Auber all of Charleston; his nephews, David Underwood of Charleston and Charlie Fields of Sissonville; Becky Funk of Sissonville, Timmy Fields of Sissonville, Debbie Fields of Ripley; along with his lifelong hunting buddies, Frank and Sandy Thompson.

A funeral will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Harper Memorial Church with Pastor Jim Russell officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Cline Hollow Cemetery.

Family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service at the church.
