Obituary

John W. Long, 88, of Cross Lanes went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2014.

He was a long time member of Community Chapel Church. John was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in WWII. He retired from Atkinson Builders after 33 years. He also enjoyed gardening.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, James and Violet Long; sisters, Mary Oliver, Monica Ghent, Louise Davis, and Betty Grow.

John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Long; son, Bill (Brenda) Long; daughter, Connie (Phil) Price; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ron) Weist, Angela (Trey) Cooper, Justin (Ashley) Price, Stacy (Andrew) Wright; great grandchildren, Joshua and Abigail Weist, Ryan Callie, and Emma Price, and Mason Wright; brother, Joe Long; and sister, Bearneice Ellis.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, April 9 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Funeral service will be held at 1 pm Thursday, April 10 at Community Chapel Church, Cross Lanes with Pastor Phillip Conn officiating with Pastor John Gorrell assisting. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens, where Military Rites will be performed.

Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
