John R. Martin, Sr., 83, of DeLand Florida passed away on April 3, 2014.

He graduated from Fayetteville High School. John was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served his country in the Korean War. He worked for Fletcher Wire, The State of West Virginia Worker Compensation, and Libby Owens Ford Glass Company. John then moved to Florida where he has lived for 16 years. He served as the President of the Board of Directors at Villa Villar Court for six years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lawson Martin and Grace Lucile Hanshew; and sisters, Janet E. Cunningham and June L. Martin.

John is survived by his wife Juanita E. Martin; son, John R. Martin, Jr of Colorado Springs, CO; step-son, Danny L. Cottle of Hurricane; daughter, Joan M. Henderson of Grafton; brother, Jerald E. Martin; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, April 8 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

A graveside service will be held at 10 am Wednesday, April 9 at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
