John Lovell McCormick, 87, of Dunbar, passed away on March 22, 2017 at the Dunbar Genesis Center.

Having lived most of his life in Dunbar, John was a graduate of Dunbar High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and the basketball team. He attended Morris Harvey College before being called serve in the U.S. Army.

John retired from the State of West Virginia. After retirement he lived in Florida for 16 years before returning to Dunbar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin D. Sr. and Betty McCormick; brothers, Paul, Joseph, A.D. Jr.; and sister, Howell Browder.

John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janet Manning McCormick; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dunbar Genesis and HospiceCare for the excellent and loving care given to John during his last year before being called to his heavenly home.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Kyle Key officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
