Obituary

John "Hippie" Parsons, 51, of St. Albans passed away on August 20, 2017.

John loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, swimming, and boating. John had a special love for animals and adored all his pets, including his current dog, Lucy.

John was baptized at Grace Baptist Temple, St. Albans.

He was very talented in repairing just about anything from electronics to cars. John was employed by Crossmark and worked as part of a set-up team for Lowes. He was also a truck driver and did home repairs.  After his heart attack in 2007 he was disabled and was unable to work.

John had a soft heart and was known for always giving a helping hand.   He believed everyone deserved a second chance. John was a collector of various items that needed help, just like himself; that he always wanted to fix.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Stella Westfall; and father, Phillip J. Parsons.

John is survived by his daughter, Jessica Parsons of Hometown; mother and step-father, Donna and Don Brown of Gastonia, NC; brother, Mark Parsons of Poca; aunt and uncle, Virgie and Roy Fields of Clendenin; nephew, Mark Parsons, Jr. of Cross Lanes; niece, Chelsey Parsons of Poca; and aunts, Carolyn and Sharon of SC.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Shining Star

© Anon

The angels looked down from heaven one night

They searched for miles afar,

And deep within the distance

They could see a shining star.

They knew that very instant

That the star was theirs to gain,

So they took you up to heaven

Forever to remain.

Look down on us from heaven

Keep us free from hurt and pain,

You'll always be within my heart

Until we meet again.
