John Robert Stackhouse, 74 of South Charleston passed into the loving arms of his Creator, on Tuesday April 26, 2011 at Herbert J. Thomas Hospital.
John was born in Philadelphia, Pa. He was outgoing, a hard worker and a devoted and loving husband and father. During his lifetime he was employed by The Holiday Inn and several janitorial services. After retiring, he owned and operated his own lawn care service. He was always upbeat and never met a stranger he didn't befriend. He will be missed greatly.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Donna Munzo Stackhouse, their son Joshua Stackhouse of Madison, WI, and stepdaughter Donna McComas of St. Albans; former wife, Lola Fay of Sissonville, and their children, Robert Stackhouse of Sissonville, John Stackhouse of Liberty, Mary West of Williamstown, Lola Shamblin of Amma; sisters, Marie Ford of Laurel, Del., Nancy Samacici of Bethlehem, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
While many are to be thanked, the family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. V.B. Lakhani and Dr. Jeffrey Addison for their care and kindness shown, and to his wife's employer Sam Walker-Matthews of Behavioral Health Solutions who has been exceedingly understanding during John's many months of illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 2, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Malcolm Combs officiating.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
