John Marshall Wilkerson, 85, of Dunbar, passed away Aug. 23, 2006 at Arbors of Gallipolis, Ohio, after an extended illness.
He attended the Charleston School of Commerce and Gregg College in Chicago. He was formerly employed by Allegheny Freight Lines and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Dunbar. Mr. Wilkerson was a US Army veteran of WWII. He served in the Air Corps as a lst Lieutenant, having flown 51 missions over Italy and France.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Victor and Mary Eveleth Wilkerson and by two sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Wilkerson is survived by his wife, Pauline Robson Wilkerson; son, Stephen M. and his wife, Myra of Danville, Pa; daughters, Jennifer Britton and her husband, John of Charleston, Paula Legge and her husband, Stephen of Alum Creek and Teresa Adams and her husband, Tom of Summerville, SC. Also surviving are grandchildren, Justin Legge of Greensboro, NC, Andrea and Jessica Legge of Alum Creek.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 26, at the First Presbyterian Church in Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Pamela Eliason officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 25, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
