Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Andrew Campbell, 94, of Dunbar went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 2, 2013.

He was born May 4, 1919 in Russellville, WV and was the last remaining child of Andrew and Mary Campbell. A resident of Dunbar for almost 70 years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, puttering in his garage and spending time with his family. He was also known as a "jack of all trades and a master of most".

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his four sisters (Nina, Doris, Macel, and Mary Lois); his first wife, Dorothy; and infant daughter, Sharon.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Anna Louise Campbell; and his two daughters and their husbands (whom he loved like sons), Betty (Mike) Painter and Nancy (Steve) Campbell all of Dunbar. After growing up with four sisters and then having two daughters, he was especially proud of his two grandsons, Robert Campbell of Charlottesville, VA and Alan Campbell of Pittsburgh, PA.

He proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Anyone who has visited Joe in his home never left without seeing his display of medals. Up until this summer, Joe was an active member of Dunbar United Methodist Church having served on the Board of Trustees for many years. He was also one of the last "old critters" who helped build the new church after the old church burned in December 1981. He retired from E.I. DuPont with over 40 years of service.

Family will receive friends at Dunbar United Methodist Church, 14th Street and Myers Avenue, on Tuesday, November 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

Funeral service will be held at Dunbar United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 6, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Okey Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dunbar United Methodist Church Building Maintenance Fund.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
