Obituary

Joseph Steven McLaughlin, 63, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2013, after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many. He was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, Class of 1969 and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He had been self-employed.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Alford and Bobby Jean McLaughlin.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, JoAnn; his daughter, Bobbie Jo and her companion, Tommy Pauley of Elkview; son, Mark McLaughlin of Tennessee; grandchildren, Whitney, Daniel and Cameron; brothers, Eddie and his wife, Lynn, Larry and David; sisters, Jean Ann Hoke and her husband, Brent; Pam Pettry and her husband, Fred. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, May 20, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Larry McCallister officiating. Burial will follow in the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 19, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

The family would like to express their thanks to all of Steve's family and friends for the support, love and prayers during his illness. Thanks also to Carla Zielinski, the Hospice nurse, for his wonderful care.
