Joseph Lee Thurman, age 39, departed this life June 20, 2006 at CAMC General.
He was a young man of great Faith. He grew up in Jackson, MS. He was married for some 18 years and lived in Jacksonville, FL. He was a man who loved his family. He had the career job of his life as manager of several convenience stores in FL. Problems with high blood pressure in his teens and taking strong medications led to kidney failure and dialysis treatments. In March 2005, he moved to Charleston, WV to be near his sister. He loved the people and the friendliness of the town. He made his home on the Westside. He attended several neighborhood churches. He loved to go to the new Power Baseball Park. He became friends with many dialysis patients at the Fresenius Medical Care Clinic at the Millennium Building.
He leaves to remember his zest for life: Sisters, Tameka Roy of Charleston, WV; Sylvia Wright Smith of Orange Park, FL; Brother, Terry Hunt of DE; Daughters: Latoya L. Hornsby and Tempest D. Gibson of Jackson, MS; Joyce A. Wates Thurman of Jacksonville, FL; Nephew Dave Lewis of Johnstown, PA; and Friend, Ethel Andrews of Institute and other friends and family.
There will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
