Josie M. Duncan, 92, of Charleston (Loudendale) went home with the Lord on Friday, January 24, 2025 at CAMC Memorial Hospice Care after a short illness.

She was born on December 5, 1932 in Lexington, VA to a Flossie McCulley and Phillip McCulley.

Josie graduated from Effinger High School in 1950 in Collierstown, VA.  She met the love of her life, James Duncan, in Columbus Ohio where he was stationed in the Air Force, and she worked at Ohio Bell as an operator.  They married and she moved with him to Charleston. Josie became a home maker, and was a member of the Loudendale Free Will Baptist Church for 60 plus years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, James E. Duncan; sisters, Virginia J. Clemons and Nellie A. Cox; brothers, Wm. Howard and Everett McCulley; son-in-law, Clark Schulz; and grandson, Aaron Dyer.

Josie is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Schulz, Brenda Dyer (Fred) ; sons, Michael (Shirley), Darryl (Shelly), and Curtis (Melissa); 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Susie McCulley and Margie Jones (Ronnie).

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Loudendale Free Will Baptist Church, 7003 Kanawha State Forest Dr, Charleston, WV 25314, with Pastor Rickie Holstein officiating with entombment to follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Sissonville, WV

The family will welcome visitors from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to express their sincere "thanks" to all the staff at CAMC Hospital and Hospice for their excellent care.  We also would like to thank Centerwell Health for its Wellness care.
