Joyce Marie Thurston Harmon, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2006.

She was born July 12, 1940 in Dunbar. She was the daughter of Velma Kay Thurston of Dunbar, and the late Elwood Thurston.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Ann, and former spouse, Grover Allen Harmon, Sr.

Joyce was a 1959 graduate of Dunbar High School. She had retired from as a Tax Assessor with the Kanawha County Assessor's Office, with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Dunbar First Church of God. She was a loving mother to all and a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren. She loved life and is now with God's angels. She will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, and mother.

In addition to her mother, Joyce is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Grover Allen Harmon, II and Beverly of Poca; daughters, Tammy Marie Campbell of Cross Lanes and Terri Lynn Whitt of Winfield; grandchildren, Whitney Allison Harmon of Clay, Jesse and Tricia Whitt of Winfield, Alexandria Harmon, Ryan Campbell and Cody Campbell of Cross Lanes; uncle, Russell Kay of Dunbar; friends, John Allen Hewitt and John Wolfe.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Larry McCallister, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
