Moles
October 1, 1931 – December 25, 2025
Joyce Madeline Moles, 94, of Dunbar, West Virginia passed away after a bout with pneumonia on December 25, 2025 while in rehab at Genesis of Dunbar.
She was born on October 1, 1931 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Irvin Freeman and Mabel Jane Atkinson Brisedine of Frame, WV.
Joyce was a graduate of Clendenin High School. She was a homemaker until 1967, then went to work at Frankenburger's, and finally retired from WV Department of Health and Human Services. She also did book keeping for Midwest Metals. Joyce enjoyed crossword puzzles, and reading her Bible, which she read 23 times. She attended Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle where she was a member until her death. Joyce participated in the ladies aid group, and was very faithful to her church arriving about an hour early for services.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Mason of Brooksville, Florida, Evelyn Mason of White Sulpher Springs, WV, Shirley Jones of Elkview, WV, Marilyn "Cookie" Swisher of Hammond, Indiana; her daughter, Jean Ann Starkey of Fayetteville, WV; and her loving husband of 75 years, Norman G "Jack" Moles of Dunbar, WV.
Joyce is survived by her son, Greg Moles (Wanda); her grandchildren, Matthew (Heather), Brandon, and Micah Moles (Candace), Carrie Beth Voitelle (JR); her great-grandchildren, Bradley, Andrew, Mia, Braylee, and Beau Moles, Brynlee, Maleah, and Maddie Jo Voitelle, and Owen Pauley; along with nieces, Terry Morgan (Mitch), Cathy Critzer (Cecil), Robin Bellamy (Gary), Kim Spillers (Rocky); along with great-nieces and nephews, Mark, Emily, and Rebecca Lugo, David Shay, Vicki Rowe, Mary Dawn Lyons, Jason Morrison, and Tiffany Faulkner.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Thomas Hospital, Genesis Dunbar Center, and her caretakers Jenner Critchfield of Teays Valley, Carol and Kelsy Lane, and Kensi Hedrick of Pinch, WV.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday January 2, 2025 at Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle with Pastor Tom Price officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Family will welcome visitors two hours prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
