Juan Arnet
Calloway
June 25, 1960 – January 2, 2023
The world lost an angel and God-Fearing Man on January 2, 2023, as heaven gained one. Juan Arnet Calloway, affectionately known as "Gator", 62, of Charleston, WV went to be with the Lord peacefully at home. He was previously employed by the city of Charleston and Shawnee Hills. He graduated from Charleston High School and attended WV Career College.
During a challenging time in his life, Arnet accepted The Lord as his Personal Savior. He became a dedicated member of The First Baptist Church of Charleston and was ordained as a Deacon. Arnet took his relationship with God serious. He diligently studied The Bible and shared the goodness of God with everyone. He loved his church and he thoroughly enjoyed keeping it sparkling clean! God gifted Arnet with the gifts of helps and he could be seen operating in that gift around his church and the Charleston area.
Arnet was a Special Man with a heart of gold and he will be greatly missed. To know him was to love him. Our hearts are saddened because we will no longer see his infectious smile, experience his loving kindness, or hear him say his famous words, "I heard that!" We take comfort in knowing that Arnet is resting in the sweet arms of Jesus.
Arnet was preceded in death by his parents, father, Rev. Robert Calloway, Jr. and mother, Claxtine Calloway; maternal grandmother, Henrietta Thompson; paternal grandmother, Anne Boone; special aunt, Betty Berkley.
Arnet leaves behind grandson, Josiah Spry; brothers, Rev. Curtis Calloway (Sue) and Bryan Sawyer, both of Charleston; sisters, Min. Danita Haley (Bishop Robert) of Charleston, Min. Jessica Canty, of St. Albans, Joletta Calloway, of Charleston, Min. Sandra Calloway, of Dunbar, Benita Lipscomb (William) of Dunbar; step mother, Gloria Calloway; God sister, Robin Beatty, special aunt, Chiquita Calloway; best friend, Dave Reynolds; a long time animal friend, Cat Gracie; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, January 9 at First Baptist Church, 432 Shrewsbury St., Charleston, WV 25301.
Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
