Obituary

Juanita Kidd Dodd Phillips, age 89, of Dunbar, passed away at home on August 7, 2017.

Juanita was born on January 16, 1928, the daughter of the late Clovis and Pearl Marion Kidd.

She was a member of Dunbar Mountain Mission Church and a member of the choir since 1970 and a prior member of Parsons Chapel Church. She worked at Frankenbergers, Corbans, Kelleys, and General Machinery. She was also a former assistant Girl Scout leader.

In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her first husband of 47 years, Ray Dodd; brothers, Harold and Sherman Kidd; sister, Phyllis Phillips Smith; sons-in-law, Howard Hossler and Guy E. Olive; brothers-in-law, Eb Smith, Elmer Spencer, Rev. Warren Jones, and Guy Phillips; paternal grandparents, Harum "Buck" and Nancy Withrow Kidd; maternal grandparents, Rev. William "Will" and Estline Jones Marion.

Juanita is survived by her loving husband and caregiver of 12 years, John D. Phillips; brother, Clifford Kidd of Florida; sister, Jackie Jones of Charleston; sisters-in-law, Sue and Shirley Kidd, both of Ohio; daughters, Linda Olive of Elkview and Sheila "Sue" Hossler of Charleston; stepdaughters, Terry (Ronnie) Tignor of Pinch and Becky (Carl) Rose of Cross Lanes; stepson, Gary (Tammy) Phillips of Belle; granddaughters, Lisa (Lonnie) Carr of Pinch and Renea (Mike) Jones of Charleston; grandson, Eric (Nichole) Olive of Charleston; step-granddaughters, Alisha Tignor of Pinch, Margaret Dorsey of Virginia, Susan Rose and Holley Rose, both of Cross Lanes; great-grandchildren, Christopher Radloff and Joel Parsons, both of Elkview, Taylor Olive of South Charleston, and Shiann, Olivia, and Madison Jones of Charleston; step-great-granddaughters, Emilie and Tiffani Crouch of Elkview; special friends, Harold (Bonnie) Neeley, Gene (Rosemary) Martin, Joann Spears, and Wanda Harrison. She also leaves behind her beloved teacup Chihuahua, Angel.

The family would like to thank Hospice Care and their staff for their kind and compassionate care.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, at Dunbar Mountain Mission Church. Burial will follow in Elk Hills Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8.p.m. on Saturday, August 12, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
