Julie Ann
Harrington
April 8, 1962 – October 22, 2025
Julie Ann Harrington, 63, of South Charleston passed away peacefully at Hubbard House on October 22, 2025.
She was born on April 8, 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Jack and Janice West. She was the eldest sibling of four.
She faced a long journey with medical challenges, which became especially difficult following the passing of her beloved husband. Despite her strength and resilience, recent infections, including MRSA and an unidentified bacterial illness, left her body too weak to continue the fight.
Julie was a graduate of Trotwood Madison High School and earned her business degree from Southwestern Community College. For much of her life, she was a devoted homemaker, but she also worked outside the home, managing both Arby's and Pizza Hut during her career.
She loved cooking, gardening and spending time playing bingo, Canasta, and Farkle. Julie was known as the neighborhood mom and babysitter-someone everyone could count on. Julie was a loyal fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Bengals, she never missed a chance to cheer on her teams.
Above all, Julie was a devoted Christian who lived out her faith daily. She always found the good in others, even when they gave her nothing but bad, and she loved fiercely and unconditionally.
In addition to her parents, Julie was proceeded in death by her brother, Lenard West; oldest son, Cory West; loving husband, David Harrington; father-in-law, Bill "William" Jackson, best friends, Debbie Jarvis and Deborah "Big Mamma" Hock, her husband "Pops" and their two sons Rodger D and Tommy Hock.
Julie is survived by her sister, Dawn Fugate (Jr) and her six children Water (Missy), Mindy, Glen (Nancy), Kimmy, Meg, and Zack; brother, Matt West (Stephanie), their five children Breanna, Brayden, Darren, Gracie, and Matthew; son, John Oaks (Rebecca), their two children Sebastian and Adrianna Oaks (Drew); daughter, Felicity Layman, her daughter, Amanda (Matt), and their four children, Joshua (Hayden), Jayden (Emily), Julie, and David; daughter, Rachelle Shepherd and her four children, Alexis House (Edward) and their child Evie, Dorothy Doherty (Ang) and their two children, Jazzy and Joe, Logan Shepherd, and Adam Shepherd; sons, Billy and Eric Harrington; daughter, Susan Snider (Jeff) and their two children, Steven and his son Gabe, and Tiffany; best friend of many years Cheryl Reed (Greg) and their four children, Courtney, Brooke, Kendra, and Shayne. As well as many other cousins and friends. If I did not name you I am sorry, but I promise she loved you!
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Rachelle, her in-home caretaker, for her loving care and dedication. They would also like to express heartfelt appreciation to Kanawha County Fire and EMS, Montgomery Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, Mountaineer Home Health Care, CAMC Memorial Hospital, Fresenius Kidney Care of Dunbar, Dr. Lisa Kelley, Hubbard Hospice House, and everyone else who played a part in caring for Julie. A very special shout-out goes to her KRT driver, James Mason, for his kindness, understanding, and gentle spirit.
A service will be held at Hills and Dales at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m October 27, 2025.
Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
