June Atkinson Fierbaugh, 81, of Dunbar, died at home on Saturday, January 13, 2007 after an extended illness. She has gone to heaven to be with the Lord and to be reunited with her loving husband.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She touched so many lives with her kind and caring ways. She was quick with laughter and could always be counted on for a listening and understanding ear. She will be sorely missed here but lovingly welcomed in heaven.
She was born March 4, 1925 in Charleston, WV. She's preceded in death by her husband George "Bob" Fierbaugh; parents Ira and Emma Atkinson; sisters Mildred Moore; Margaret Murrill and Seppie Jacobson.
She graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1942. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1945 and served as a deaconess for some time. She was employed at McJunkin Corporation for several years and retired as secretary from Bonham Elementary School with 20 years service.
Surviving with many wonderful memories and much love are her son and his wife, David and Elaine Fierbaugh of Charleston; daughter and her husband, Judy and Paul Mellor of Charleston. Also her four grandchildren, Martin Fierbaugh of Teays Valley; Nicole Fierbaugh of Dunbar; Jennifer Hively of Sacramento, CA and Joshua Hively of Charleston. She had one great grandson, Cameron Fierbaugh. She leaves behind a host of loving friends and family and will be so very missed by all.
A very special thank you goes to Sandra Peck her friend and caregiver, for all of the love and dedication she gave to her.
The family would also like to give a very special thank you to the people at Hospice of Dunbar, for making her comfortable during her last days, and to the nursing staff at CAMC on 3 South for their excellent care.
Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 with the Rev. Mark Newland officiating. Graveside service will be at Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens immediately following.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to HospiceCare, 1143 Dunbar Ave., Dunbar, WV 25064 in her name.
