Karen Jean Beckett, 58, of Scott Depot, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her home, after a long illness.
She was born December 2, 1951, the daughter of Fred William Clendenin and the late Myrtle L. Bowen Clendenin. Karen retired from Verizon in 2006 with 29 years of service, and she was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
Karen's greatest accomplishments in life were when she married her husband, George Beckett in 1989, and gave birth to her precious daughter, Connie Jean Beckett in 1991. Karen loved antiques and enjoyed displaying them throughout her home.
Karen's life was surrounded with a host of loving friends whom were so dedicated to her during her long illness. The family wishes to thank each and every one of them for their support. Also, a special thanks to Hospice who continuously stayed by her side. Sue Griffith was Karen's caregiver, best friend, and her guardian angel. The entire family loved Sue for the special and tender care she gave to their loved one.
Karen is survived by her husband, George W. Beckett; daughter, Connie Jean Beckett currently attending WVU; step son, Bryan Beckett of Athens, GA; step daughter, Elizabeth Beckett of Athens, GA; father, Fred W. Clendenin of Cross Lanes; sisters, Linda Lucas of Cross Lanes, Rebecca Clendenin of Cross Lanes, Pamela Shamblin of Charleston, Cynthia Cole of Nitro; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 17, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
