On June 22, 1961 in Huntington, God planted a beautiful rose in the Garden of Life named Karen Elise Farris, Dunbar. God plucked his beautiful rose on January 8, 2021 at the age of 59.

Karen was a loving mother and grandmother, who never met a stranger and accepted everyone for who and what they were without judgement. Her love will forever remain in the memory of those who knew her. Karen worked at AT&T for many years and truly cared for and loved everyone she worked with.

She was preceded in death by her father, Erwin Lawson of Braderton, FL.

Karen leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Vera Lawson of Braderton, FL; brother, Gregg Lawson of Braderton, FL; son and only child, Andrew Slater of Dunbar; and her #1 fan and only granddaughter, Sierra Slater of South Charleston.

There will be a celebration of Karen's life in the near future.

One of the many wonderful traits that Karen had was her love for any and all animals. All those who knew her knew this about her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that everyone donate to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier St, Charleston, WV 25311, in Karen's honor to help this great cause, just as she had for any animal she came in contact with, as well as her own.
