Karen Sue (Milam) Foster, 69, of Dunbar, West Virginia, passed away on August 19, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Born April 10, 1957, in Charleston, West Virginia, Karen was a lifelong resident of the Kanawha Valley. She graduated from Dunbar High School with the Class of 1975 and later built a long career with the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority (KRT), from which she retired. She attended Harper Memorial Gospel Tabernacle.

Karen had two beloved dogs, Maggie and Adora. She loved to travel; after her retirement she took multiple cruises and beach trips with family and lifelong friends. She enjoyed weekend trips to Amish Country or the mountains of Tennessee. Karen especially loved celebrating holidays with family and friends, particularly Christmas.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Noble O. Foster; her sister, Patti L. Milam Hanson; and her mother, Doris Burdette.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Dustin Milam (Samantha) of Ashland, Kentucky, and Toby Foster (Tiffany) of Lakeland, Florida; her brothers, Randall Milam (Jacquelyn) of Tyler Mountain and Charles Milam of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren: Aiden Milam of Cross Lanes, Caleb Foster (Allie) of Waynesville, North Carolina, Amanda Irvine (Zach) of Waynesville, North Carolina, Damien Foster of Lakeland, Florida, Deanna Foster of Tifton, Georgia, Toby Foster Jr. of Lakeland, Florida, Brian Foster Woods (Kaleigh) of Lakeland, Florida, Aimee Foster (Chance) Smith of Laurel, Mississippi, Austin Raschke of Lakeland, Florid, Courtney Brooke and Paige Bowen of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Codey Bowen of Ashland, Kentucky; her great-grandchildren: Austyn and Thomas Raschke, Levi, Hagen, and Stetson Woods, Toby (III), Brody, Logan, and Owen Foster, all of Lakeland, Florida, Cali and Asher Smith of Laurel, Mississippi, Georgia and Russell Foster, Rylan and Abel Irvin, all of Waynesville, North Carolina, Alice Bowen of Ashland, Kentucky; nieces and nephews Danielle (Carter, Ashlyn, Kenna, and Obi) Coleman of Roanoke, Virginia, Krystal Bradshaw (James and Kaison) of Sissonville, John, Colby, and Denver Milam of Raleigh, North Carolina, and a host of friends that are considered family.

The family would like to thank the amazing nursing staff at both CAMC Memorial and General hospitals for the care and compassion they provided to Karen and her life-long friend, Dianna Pottorff for all the doctor appointments and standing by her side.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Harper Memorial Gospel Tabernacle.

Karen’s wishes were to be cremated and taken to the beach one last time.
