Karen Sue Whittington, 84, of Nitro, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2017.

She was born in Dunbar to the late Etna and Dillie Hayes.

Karen was a member of Dunbar Mountain Mission Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible Lessons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Whittington; and granddaughter, Lacy Whittington.

Karen is survived by her husband, Jerry B. Whittington; son, Jerry Whittington; daughters, Dena (Larry) Wildman and Leslie Whittington; sister, Mauna Barr; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 8, at Dunbar Mountain Mission Church with the Reverend Ron Fisher and the Reverend Ray Parsons. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Dunbar Mountain Mission Church.
