Kathleen M. Settle, formerly of Cross Lanes, passed away on October 26, 2014 after a long illness.
She was born to the late Daniel and Lola Pruden in Dunbar on April 15, 1937.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Settle; and brothers, Harold Pruden and Jack Pruden of Dunbar.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Taylor (Greg) of Red House; son, Bobbie Murphy, Jr. of Cullman, Ala.; brother Ralph Pruden (Dottie) of Dunbar; four granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
Kathleen retired from the WV Dept. of Highways Advance Planning Division. She was a member of Dunbar Mountain Mission and past Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose, Charleston chapter. Kathleen volunteered at St. Francis Hospital, played piano for Baber-Agee United Methodist Church years ago and also taught piano. She had a love of painting, crafts and travel.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her good friend, Joy Wright, for being there and giving her many laughs and support. Also to the staff at Broadmore Senior Living, that was so caring during her illness.
Services will be held at 1p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, at Dunbar Mountain Mission with Reverend Ray Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Dunbar Mountain Mission Youth, 605 Dunbar Ave, Dunbar, WV 25064.
