Kathleen Smith, 92, of Summerville, S.C., formerly of Teays Valley, entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of October 19, 2013, at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, SC.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Kathleen was born on January 1, 1921 in Ward. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 153, Nitro, where she would have been a 50-yr. member in 2014.

Kathleen remained active in her own residence until five weeks before her illness. She loved babies, animals, birds, flowers and decorating. She also loved her toy poodle, Precious, who is now in the care of her daughter and son-in-law. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Carl E. Smith of 69 years. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Hauschilt; son-in law, Terry Hauschilt of Summerville, SC.; grandsons, Roger E. Hartlley and wife, Melissa of Asheville, N.C., Ronald E. Hartley and wife, Mary of Lake Zurich, Il. and Terry Hauschilt II and wife, Marsha of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and six great grandchildren. I also want to thank Tammy Lewis of Charleston, SC who was a caregiver and dear friend of Mom for several years before her passing.

Final Arrangements were handled by A. Dyal Funeral Home in Sumerville, SC and Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar, WV.
