January 31, 1978 – May 11, 2017
Kitonya Leona Ball, 39, of South Charleston, formerly of Logan, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving husband and family at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a brave and courageous battle with colon cancer.
Kitonya was born on January 31, 1978 in Bluefield. She graduated from Logan High School in 1997 and worked at Holiday Inn Express, Embassy Suites, Special Touch Nursing, and was currently employed at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Emergency Department, as the Head Unit Coordinator, a job she enjoyed.
She was a member of First Church of God in Christ of Charleston, where she always was involved and willing to help with a generous heart. Kitonya touched many lives with her smile, contagious laughter, kindness and love. She enjoyed traveling, decorating, working and most of all cherished the time spent with her family.
Kitonya leaves behind her loving memories to be cherished by her husband, the love of her life, Jody Ball; two sons, Daunte' J. Carson and Kassius Ball of South Charleston; mother, Sarah Lee Roach of Charleston; father, Horace Roach, Jr. of Long Branch, NJ; sisters, Taleka Carson of Milton and Ann'na Carson (Andrew) of Colorado; brothers, Andre Roach (Alisha) of Gilbert, Osie Miller (Angel) of Christiansburg, VA, Raheem Roach and Mylik Hamlett of Atlanta, GA; special friend, Glenda Jenkins; life-long friend, best friends forever , Torri Locke; co-worker, Mary Bennett, who shared a special bond at CAMC Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Department; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Kitonya's life will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 26, at First Church of God in Christ of Charleston, 3001 7 th Ave, Charleston with Pastor Bobby Thomas officiating. A reception will follow.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.
