Larry "Mad Dog" Gaynor, 81, of Dunbar, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020.
He was born on April 7, 1939 in Richwood, to the late Harry and Nannie Gaynor.
Larry retired from the City of Dunbar. He had previously worked as a boilermaker among many other occupations. In his younger years, he was a Golden Gloves boxer. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Army National Guard.
Larry loved hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed going to yard sales so he could wheel and deal. He loved his WVU Mountaineer football. Larry had a silly nature and loved making people laugh. His big love was spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angie Gaynor; brothers, Terry Gaynor, Bill Gaynor, Danny Gaynor, and Sonny Gaynor; sisters, Nancy Romano and Janet Tinney.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda Gaynor; son, Mike Gaynor of South Charleston; step-daughter, Melissa Taylor of Cross Lanes; step-sons, Jason Taylor of Dunbar and Jerry Taylor Jr., of South Charleston; daughter-in-love, Elizabeth Adkins of Dunbar; brother, Coy Gaynor of Dunbar; sister, Tammy Meadows of Teays Valley; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Gaynor of Moorefield and Libby "Hutchinson" Williams (Will) of California; brothers-in-law, Tom Tinney of Richwood and Bob Hutchinson (Connie) of Hurricane; grandsons, Michael, Isiaha, Larry, Zachery, Damian, Cody, Zane, Ethan; granddaughter, Leah; three great-grandchildren; former sister-in-law, Georgia Hess of South Charleston; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Institute.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
