Laura A. Priestley Lawson, 68, of South Charleston, formerly of Dunbar, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2008.
She was born October 13, 1939 in Clay County, to the late Odbert and Nellie Gill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Linda Butler McClain, Charity Facemyer, and Reba Gill, as well as her brother, Clifton Gill.
Laura was retired from the WV Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle. Laura was an avid reader. She enjoyed quilting, crochet, and cross stitching. She loved outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, or just watching wildlife.
Laura is survived by her husband, Charles "Mike" Lawson; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Perry Harris; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lisa Priestley of Dunbar; sisters, Lorraine McCauley of Mason, Shirley Broughton of Richmond, VA; brother, George Gill of South Charleston; grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, and Lauren Harris, Dakota and Cierra Priestley.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sunbridge Nursing Home for their compassionate care as well as Lynn Thorne.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 15, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Billy Jackson and the Rev. Greg Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
