Obituary

Lawrence O. Case, Jr., 81, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Known to many of his friends and family as "L.O." he was born on December 30, 1932 in Braxton County, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence O. Case, Sr. and Blanche Case; one brother, James E. "Bud" Case; and one sister, Carmen who died as a child.

He graduated from Charleston High School and enlisted in the Army National Guard where he led his unit's rifle team to win many competitions and was known as an excellent marksman with the M1 Garand Rifle. He went to work for Union Carbide at Institute plant, and retired in 1989 with 34 years of service. He held many positions while at Carbide, including foreman, fire team leader and instructor, and at the time of his retirement the position of supervisor.

L.O. was a lifelong hunter, fisherman, whitewater rafter, and nature lover. He was an avid bird watcher and could identify everything from songbirds, waterfowl, and all the birds of prey. He loved to fish for Smallmouth Bass on the Elk and New River; and in the past would make many trips to Lake Erie in pursuit of Walleyes.

L.O. had a keen sense of humor well known to his family and friends. He was not above pulling a practical joke, but at the same time he made it a habit to go out of his way to help anyone that he knew was in need. Many will miss L.O. in this respect.

He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy who cared for him every minute of every day during his long illness; one daughter, Debbie Kincaid and husband Rickey Allen Sr. of Sod; one son, L.O. Case III and wife Helen of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Rickey Allen Kincaid, Jr. and wife Christy of St. Albans, and Sarah and Jesse Case of Fayetteville; three great-grandchildren, Rickey Allen Kincaid III, and Miles and Evan Kincaid all of St. Albans; three brothers, Charles Case of VA, Bill Case of Ohio, and Ed Case of Charleston; three sisters, Sally Neale of Teays Valley, Imogene Morris of Ohio, and Carol Burford and husband, Paul of Calhoun County.

Peggy Case and all of his family wish to express their heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at CAMC's David Lee Cancer Center, Memorial Division and the Vascular Center at CAMC, all of whom gave the very best of care and greatly appreciate their service.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Reverend Keith George officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
