Obituary

Leonard Leon Duncan, 89, born on February 7, 1923, formerly of Cross Lanes passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Lakin Hospital, Point Pleasant, after several years of illness.

Leonard was a WWII veteran of the 34th Infantry Red Bulls. He then worked for Gravely Tractors in Dunbar and completed his career at the age of 74 at Terramite in Cross Lanes. He was a member of New Testament Baptist Church of Charleston and Victory Baptist of Tyler Mountain. He also spent many hours researching and corresponding with his WWII Red Bull buddies and friends he met in Africa and Italy.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ester Thurston Duncan of Dunbar; brother, Lawrence Duncan of Dunbar; nephew, Jon Duncan of Virginia; and son, Charleston Patrolman Eddie Ray Duncan, also of Dunbar.

He is survived by his children Jimmy and Betty Duncan of Dunbar, Freddie and Susie Duncan of Oak Hill, Ella and Jimmy Wilson of North Carolina, Connie and Tom Snyder of Charleston, and Nancy and Robert McClure of North Carolina; nephew, Gene and Claudia Duncan of Hurricane: 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heart-felt love and appreciation to the staff at Lakin Hospital for all the great care and love shown to our daddy while he was there.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Thurston Cemetery, Dunbar.
